Kangwon National University College of Medicine Department of Medical Management is in charge of research and educational activities in the field of health care. In this classroom, 'health care' is the subject of research, and by utilizing knowledge and methodology in the fields of social science and humanities along with medicine, various phenomena related to health care are analyzed to understand the mechanism and develop concrete alternatives.
Due to changes in the medical system and disease patterns since the 1980s, not only conventional health care administration, but also medical economy, medical guarantee including medical insurance, and hospital management have emerged as new subjects of study in preventive medicine. Reflecting these changes, medical management was formed as a new field of preventive medicine.
Medical management has the characteristics of basic medicine in that it studies social organization and behavior, which are the basis of medical care, without directly engaging in patient care. However, based on the contents of medical science, it has the characteristics of applied science at the same time in that it deals with various phenomena and problems when it is applied to society. In addition, it has characteristics as a treatment support field that supports clinical medicine by dealing with areas such as medical personnel management, medical quality management, and medical information management.
